About East Middle School

The mission of DeSoto East Middle School is to achieve academic and social excellence through knowledge, respect, and responsibility.

DeSoto East Middle School (formerly DeSoto Junior High School) is part of the DeSoto Independent School district.  The campus, now known as DeSoto East Middle School, opened in 1962.  It served as the district's high school from 1962 until 1976 when the high school moved to its current location at 600 Eagle Drive. At that time the campus was renamed DeSoto Junior High School and served grades seven and eight.  When DeSoto West Junior High School opened in 1987, the campus was renamed DeSoto East Junior High School.  As part of the district-wide grade realignment plan during the 2007-2008 school year, DeSoto East became a middle school serving grades six, seven, and eight.

 Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people.  Native American Heritage Month is also an opportune time to educate the general public about tribes, to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.
